The Duo Coloquintes draws on the virtuoso repertoire of 17th century’s English virginalists, and presents unheard transcriptions for viola and violin from a repertoire initially written for keyboard. 

Performed at the Elizabethan court and the House of Stuarts, pieces of this concert succeed one after the other in moments of pride, very lively or soft, or even caressing. Alongside pieces extracted from Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, Captain Humes’ Lamentations by violist Tobias Hume will be performed, as well as variations of Thomas Baltzar’s Come kiss me now, from the famous Playford’s collection.
