Les Forteresses
Gurshad Shaheman
Three sisters born in the 1960s in Iran live the islamic revolution, war and exile. Gurshad Shaheman tells the life stories of his mother and aunts in a show where the documentary story is told like a tale.
On a stage turned into a Persian salon, Gurshad Shaheman has invited his mother and aunts, two of them exiled in Europe and the latter who stayed in Iran. They tell the story of their youths and disenchantment, the fight for emancipation swept away by the 1979 revolution, the war with Iraq and finally exile. Through a geography split up between Europe and Iran, three extraordinary universal life stories, simultaneously joint and distinct destinies, in which the intimate and the politics are intertwined.
