One actor, ten characters and a turning point in the French Revolution. Everything in 75 minutes. Who can top that? Through personal and dynamic scenography, Hugues Duchêne makes is live the night of the 4th August 1789, when feudal rights got swept away. History in the making, experienced from the inside and punctuated with hilarious moments on 21st century’s issues.
Hugues Duchêne goes back in time to the high point of the Revolution. Rebellion, famines, conspiracy – what led to this very night where gentry lost its privileges? What may be the cause of such moments when society takes a drastic turn? Placed in a forum around the narrator-actor, the audience is at the centre of history as it’s being made.
Starting from the autumn 2024, a group of students from the Ecole Supérieure d’art et de communication Cambrai will work with Hugues Duchêne, within the framework of a Atelier Recherche et Création à la conception. They will work on a performance-exhibition on the show. To discover during the festival!
