EMERGE

The EMERGE project (2024 to 2028) – Emerging Artists Mentoring and Growth Engagement supported by the Interreg VI France-Wallonia-Vlaanderen programme allows cultural structures to help companies from the HDF region, Flanders and Wallonia innovate and be new and ambitious. The Interreg VI France-Wallonia-Vlaanderen programme – at the initiative of the European Union supports the economic, social and environmental cooperation between French and Belgian frontier regions, so as to enhance their inhabitants’s quality of life and promote integrated territorial development.

EMERGE is implemented by 10 cultural structures : Kunstencentrum BUDA (BE-Fl), Charleroi danse – Centre chorégraphique de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles (BE-Wa), Cultuurhuis De Grote Post Oostende (BE-Fl), Maison de la culture d’Amiens – Pôle européen de création et de production – Scène nationale (FR-HdF), Le Manège Maubeuge, Scène Nationale Transfrontalière (FR-HdF), Le Phénix Scène nationale Pôle européen de création Valenciennes (FR-HdF), La rose des vents, scène nationale Lille Métropole Villeneuve d’Ascq (FR-HdF), Théâtre du Beauvaisis/Scène nationale (FR-HdF), Théâtre de Namur (BE-Wa), et Viernulvier (Vooruit) Gand (BE-Fl)*. The latter are helped by experts from the Kunstenpunt, L’Institut Français and the Office National de la Diffusion Artistique.

The stake of the EMERGE initiative is to bring an innovative answer to current difficulties experienced by independent performing arts companies, and enable a generation of artists to emerge in the cross-border zone. The main objective is to encourage concerted cooperation, so as to produce and distribute in the best conditions amongst cultural structures and independent companies from the HDF region, Flanders and Wallonia. Starting from a detailed inventory of 10 production companies’s resources and skills, the platform will orchestrate a pooling of resources and oriented support in order to meet the 12 artistic teams’s needs from 2024 to 2028. EMERGE is a 3.29 million-euro budget from 2024 to 2028.

Wat is EMERGE ?

Het project EMERGE (2024 tot 2028) – Emerging Artists Mentoring and Growth Engagement – wordt ondersteund door het programma Interreg VI France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen en stelt gezelschappen uit Hauts-de-France, Vlaanderen en Wallonië in staat om zich op het vlak van innovatieve, originele en ambitieuze praktijken te laten begeleiden door culturele organisaties. Het programma Interreg VI France-Wallonië-Vlaanderen is een initiatief van de Europese Unie en ondersteunt de economische, sociale en ecologische samenwerking tussen de grensregio’s van Frankrijk en België met als doel de levenskwaliteit van de inwoners te verbeteren en een geïntegreerde territoriale ontwikkeling te bevorderen.

Deze organisaties worden begeleid door experten van Kunstenpunt, het Institut Français en het Office National de la Diffusion Artistique.

EMERGE wil een vernieuwend antwoord bieden op de huidige moeilijkheden van onafhankelijke gezelschappen binnen de podium- en performancekunsten om in het grensgebied een nieuwe generatie kunstenaars te doen ontluiken. Het doel is om bij te dragen tot een gecoördineerde samenwerking met het oog op een betere productie en spreiding tussen culturele organisaties en onafhankelijke gezelschappen in Hauts-de-France, Vlaanderen en Wallonië. Op basis van een gedetailleerde oplijsting van de middelen en competenties van 10 productiehuizen zal het platform van 2024 tot 2028 een krachtenbundeling en ondersteuning op maat van de noden van 12 artistieke teams orkestreren. Het project EMERGE beschikt voor de periode 2024-2028 over een totaalbudget van 3,29 miljoen euro.
