Lisaboa Houbrechts
Stage director
Born in 1992, she took courses at the School of Arts – KASK, Ghent and is supported by PULS, a program for emerging artists invented by Guy Cassiers at the Toneelhuis Antwerp. Lisaboa Houbrechts creates eccentric, unexpected, playful and disarming shows. Together with Flemish theatre, The Phénix has been supporting her since the beginning of her career, presenting her first show in France : Hamlet (2017), Bruegel (2019) and Pépé Chat ou comment Dieu a disparu (2023). In the meantime, she’s been invited by la Comédie Française to produce Médée in 2023 – thus becoming the youngest director who’s ever been asked to create a play by the Salle Richelieu since 1799. Her career at the Phénix is also supported by the collaboration between the HDF region and the Flanders.
